We are a friendly, family-oriented small marina in Charlevoix Michigan looking for a reliable, organized, and customer-focused Office Manager/Secretary to join our team on a part-time, weekend-heavy basis.
In this role, you will handle the day-to-day administrative and office tasks that keep our marina running smoothly. You will serve as the friendly first point of contact for boat owners, visitors, and the public while supporting the owner and yard crew with scheduling, billing, communications, and general office operations. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a relaxed lakeside environment, loves boating or the outdoors, and wants flexible part-time work with weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers and visitors in a friendly, professional manner and provide excellent service
- Answer phones, respond to emails, monitor marine radio (if needed), and handle inquiries about slip rentals, services, and boat details
- Process slip reservations, contracts, payments, and invoices
- Schedule launch/haul-out appointments and coordinate with the yard labor/boat detailer team
- Perform general office tasks: filing, data entry, updating customer records, preparing mailings, and maintaining accurate records
- Assist with basic billing, fee collection, and record-keeping for seasonal and transient boaters
- Help maintain office and marina store supplies
- Support the owner with miscellaneous administrative duties as needed (e.g., newsletters, waiting lists, or simple reports)
- Keep the office area clean, organized, and welcoming
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous office, administrative, or secretarial experience (1+ years preferred, but we will train the right person)
- Strong customer service skills and a friendly, positive attitude
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Proficient with computers, email, and basic Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) — quick learners welcome
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a busy environment
- Reliable transportation and availability for weekends and some weekdays, especially during peak boating season (spring through fall)
- Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to maintain confidentiality
- Boating knowledge or interest in the marine industry is a big plus, but not required
- Must pass a background check (standard for marina positions)
Hours: Part-time, primarily weekends with some weekday flexibility (approximately 15–25 hours per week depending on season).
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate (based on experience)
